The idea that the hero needed to get home to his world in order to bring justice to his sister's killer, but would forget more and more of his life there and his purpose the longer he remained on Earth was an interesting premise but the execution...

I really like Butcher's Sentinel War series, but this standalone alien romance just didn't click with me for some reason - I guess I just never fell for the leading man. I think that if there had been a better reason for the hero to make it home before his powers and his memory faded - one with more pathos - I might have liked it better. As it was, the hero just wasn't conflicted enough between his responsibility and his sudden feelings for the heroine to win me over. The heroine on the other hand does manage to stir some sympathy, she's loved and lost and is destined to loose again and I respected her willingness to accept that loss to do the right thing.

When all is said and done though, it is likely the real problem was the length of the story, this was fairly short and in order to fit a fair bit of steamy stuff in - and with short span of time that the pair were together - there just wasn't time to develop the emotional part of the connection between them.

Short story that's definitely NOT for prudes or the unromantic. For you Sentinels fans, this story doesn't plug any holes in the series or give any info on characters you've already read about. This is a little, sexy story about a man & a woman from 2 different worlds. Enjoy!
This is a stand alone book from her series and I loved it! Light, quick read-entertaining. I look forward to her books.this did not disappoint.

This is a short, sweet, romantic story. This story was not full of action and adventure but it was full of love. You can really feel the love between the characters. I highly recommend it.
Adria Benoit just wanted a quiet solo vacation in a remote cabin. Time away from her work responsibilities, time to take more steps toward healing from the loss she had suffered. Work always kept her busy which was mostly good but hadn't let her find enough time and peace to be ready to remember and cherish what had ended and turn to face her future. But Adria never dreamt in her wildest imaginings that her quiet cabin retreat would come complete with a tall, immensely strong, naked stranger on the front lawn. But then fair's fair - Toren hadn't expected to be met by a beautiful dark-eyed woman like Adria, either.

Great fun! Well written. I started it and went straight through to the end. Like all excellent fiction, it was complete and satisfying but mmmm... I did wish that it wasn't over.

I'm a Shannon K. Butcher fan and in "Forget Me Not," she's provided another top-notch selection. I'm already looking forward to the release of her next novel.
This is a short novella only about 100 pages in length.

SYNOPSIS
A widow who has drowned her grief and isolation in work, takes her first vacation in years. When she drives up to her rented desolate cabin, she finds a hunky naked he-man alien in the center of a smoking crater. He was unjustly exiled to Earth by a vicious criminal, and must return to his home planet to reassure his family that he is not a killer and stop the real murderer from striking again.

The alien comes from a planet where magic is organic and ordinary, but our technology baffles him. The widow helps him, they fall for each other (several times!), making their own magic, and cue happy ending.

I'm a big Butcher fan, so this falls under the category of "I'll buy anything she publishes", but it's not one of her best works. It's well written and paced, but the romance lacks a `spark', one of those `I don't know what' things that make a short story stand out. However, the suspense aspect was nice and worth the time to read it. Butcher is always good. Sometimes a story is just a 2nd base hit and not a home run, but it's still worth staying in the game right? So buy the novella and enjoy.
